Tinopolis
Tinopolis,
which has its headquarters in Llanelli, is the largest television production
company in Britain outside London, according to a recent survey conducted
by Broadcast magazine.
There are three main departments within the company the programme production department wich works for clients not only throughout Wales and England, but also for broadcasters in continental Europe and the Republic of Ireland; the animation department which is under the direction of Dave Edwards, creator of such popular series as Superted and Hot Rod Dogs and the interactive department which provides web services for companies and public bodies across the globe .
By
now, all three departments often work in collaboration, since many contracts
require us to produce moving and animated pictures presented on the
Internet. An example of this is the work Tinopolis has recently completed
for the Welsh Develomentr Agency at www.projectdynamo.com
- a website designed to encourage young people to start their own businesses.
One of the companys many strengths is its ability to work bilingually,
with the majority of staff being Welsh speakers and Welsh as the main
language within the office.
The
company is proud of its roots in this part of Wales, and that is why
the name Tinopolis was decided on it is the name coined by the
people of Llanelli to describe their town during the heyday of the tin
industry.
